Graduate brother Dan Bennington's "Burger Quest" continues

  • Duffy's Sports Grill (map)

When the Theta Deuteron chapter at OWU was rechartered, Dan Bennington took up the mantle of Purple Legionnaire.  Through all his contributions to the fraternity, this chapter has thrived and grown to one of the most respected groups on campus, among both faculty and students. When contemplating the question "What does it mean to be a FIJI?", one need not look further than to Dan for the answer. From all Theta Deuteron brothers to Dan, THANK YOU for everything you've done and continue to do for this chapter!

Although Dan recently passed the torch of Purple Legionnaire to the rechartering president Ryan Kaplan, he has kept busy by searching for the BEST BURGER in the United States. While the actives are on campus working hard at academics, athletics, extracurriculars, and community building, Dan is living life to the fullest, all the while searching for the perfect burger along the way. Here is a look at his most recent burger experience.

"Wednesday Hamburger Quest. Duffy's Sports Grill. Estero, FL- No. 165

Estero, Florida is the home of the Koreshan Historic Site, where Dr. Cyrus R. Teed, alias Koresh brought his followers in the first decade of the last century.

Cyrus Reed Teed (October 18, 1839 – December 22, 1908) was a U.S. eclectic physician and alchemist turned religious leader and messiah. In 1869, claiming divine inspiration, Dr. Teed took on the name Koresh and proposed a new set of scientific and religious ideas he called Koreshanity, including a unique Hollow Earth theory that posits the Earth and sky exist inside the inner surface of a sphere.-Wikipedia

If I remember correctly, when Dr. Teed died, his followers placed his body in a bath tub and awaited his return from the dead. After a couple of weeks, the stench, decomposition and lack of movement convinced the faithful that he wasn't coming back and the movement pretty much disbanded.

Tonight, Swany and I went to Estero and Duffy's Sports Grill with good friends Tom and Jan A Kisting and Linda Gordon. All together we had the Cheeseburger, the Cheeseburger Sliders and the Bacon Mushroom Cheeseburger. I don't think any of us would claim it was a religious experience, but we all agreed that the burgers were excellent."
